Willow Weave Sculpture - Anna Turnbull

Willow Weave Sculpture......

4 nights residential or non residential willow sculpture

3 days tutorial with Anna Turnbull

Course Details

Each day will start with some discussion of artists work, and finish with sharing of our ideas to date.

Day 1:

We will use photographs of our chosen bird or small animal to make a scale drawing. We will then use this to create a wire armature which will act as a skeleton for the creature.

Day 2:

We will start to weave willow into the structure. Anna will show how the willow can be woven in bundles, creating lines which echo the contours of the muscles of the body. The piece will be built up gradually.

Day 3:

We will continue and complete the weaving adding details, giving the sculpture character.

Materials Supplied

If you could bring pictures of the chosen subject for your sculpture that would be helpful

There is an option to purchase a more substantial mild steel framework and then spend the whole of the 3 days weaving. A larger sculpture could be created in this way.
